We've said many times before how exciting it is as a wedding photographer to work somewhere new. Usually by this we mean a venue that we've never worked at before. But sometimes, just sometimes it's not just a venue that's new to you, but one that's just plain new! Alice & Ed hosted their wedding reception at the recently dubbed "Fruit House" in Suffolk. A rustic barn, with an industrial look situated on the family farm. When we went with them to visit the site during their engagement shoot it took a lot of vision to be able to see past the barren space and cobwebs. You could see see the potential, but my goodness it was going to be a lot of work! Well they did it! They pulled it off and then some! Their real wedding at the fruit house has ended up being one of our very favourites. Personal and authentic touches really brought the place alive. From vintage farm tools to fairy lights and cleverly placed draping. For a previously working barn, it polished up well!
Familiar faces at this real wedding at the Fruit House, Suffolk
Another thing that we loved about Alice & Ed's day was seeing so many familiar faces. We'd previously photographed Sarah & Tom's wedding and are also set to photograph Alice & Jacks wedding in 2022. When people know your face and recognise you from previous weddings there's an immediate feeling of ease. Everyone knows that they're not going to be pushed from pillar to post all day so you get the best from people as they just focus on enjoying the day.
Covid wedding
After several changes of date (and nerves of steel!) Alice and Ed's day was still subject to covid restrictions at the time we photographed it. This meant that numbers were heavily reduced and masks were still required indoors. Dance floors also weren't allowed. Frustratingly, rules were relaxed just a couple of weeks later, but the rules didn't have any negative impact on the day at all. Guests unable to attend the full day still greeted the newlyweds at the Church following the ceremony and spirits were high.
We hope you enjoy the photographs from their day!
