Manor by the lake is a gorgeous, luxury wedding venue in Gloucestershire. We were lucky enough to begin our wedding season there earlier this month. It was our first time shooting at this particular wedding venue and we absolutely loved it! It’s always great to work at a new wedding venue from a creativity point of view but Manor by the lake just has so much to offer. Both the grounds and the building itself are beautiful and incredibly well kept. No attention to detail has been spared- even down to walk ways lined by pretty shaped Yew trees. Little touches like this make it a wonderful venue for wedding photographs. Wooded areas around the lake are adorned with festoon and fairy lights, giving an intimate and romantic feel.
Linh and Andy couldn’t have chosen a more serene, elegant setting for their celebrations. What’s also great about Manor by the lake is the staff. Not only were they on hand and attentive all day, but they actually play an active roll in the wedding to ensure that things run smoothly and efficiently. We’ve never worked at a venue before for example where they’ll happily direct guests for group and confetti photos for example- all without asking. This saved lots of time and meant that the whole drinks reception was far more relaxed as “formalities” were out of the way quickly.
The West Suite, used on this occasion as the location for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations is a lovely room too. Very open, very light and very spacious. It felt modern and sophisticated. A perfect match for the main house, which is full or character, darker woods and ornate carvings. Another room that really impressed us is the bridal suite. Again, very light and spacious. Ideal for wedding prep and a lovely backdrop for natural pre wedding photographs. So often wedding mornings can be unnecessarily chaotic due to quite small preparation spaces.
The side dressing room and balcony are a nice addition to the bridal suite. You can step outside, overlook the gardens and feel a million miles away. Again, no attention to detail has been spared with additions such as a hook to hang the wedding dress and a wardrobe with pretty hangers! Something that seems so obvious and yet something that’s so often not though of.
In all, Manor by the lake provides a fabulous backdrop for a relaxed but elegant wedding celebration. We are so pleased that we were invited along by Linh and Andy to document their wedding day.
